Home Buyer Workshop Recap

Thank you to all who attended our Home Buyer Workshop last month. The most important take away from the Workshop for buyers and sellers is that we are in a Seller’s Market, meaning that we have less then 6 months worth of inventory on the market. In fact, as of January 2017, we had only 3.6 months of inventory on the market. When we are in a seller’s market, the home prices appreciate, which is what we are seeing now. According to several chief economists, consumer confidence, interest rates and house values will continue to rise. And, although interest rates are on the rise, they are still historically low.

Home Maintenance Reminder

Before you need to turn on your a/c check the air filter and replace it as needed. This is especially important during the summer when dust and allergens circulate. If the filter becomes clogged, your system will have to work harder to supply the same amount of cool air.

Replacing filters is one of the easiest and most effective methods of conserving energy and saving money on your HVAC usage. And much like changing the oil in your car, it’s a critical step in maintaining your system’s long-term health.

Local Attractions

One of the pulls to live in Saugus is the unique landscape you have to explore. You can take a ride down Route 1 and see the historic HillTop Restaurant area, the exciting Kowloon restaurant and various other eateries. Then you take a right down the Lynnfells Parkway and enter into Breakheart Reservation; an untouched piece of gold in the middle of the busy world. Breakheart offers hiking trails, swimming areas and dog parks galore. It’s best to explore in both the winter and summer and you will always find a new trail the seek.

Saugus, MA, has some of the best eating establishments in the area: Border Cafe; Kowloon Restaurant; Kanes Donuts; Prince Pizzeria; Iron Town Diner; Angela’s Coal Fired Pizza; Kelly’s Roast Beef; Pocari’s; The Continental Restaurant; la vita mia; Hammersmith Family Restaurant; Camalenos Pushcart; Soc’s Ice Cream; and the list goes on and on.

Thoughts from our own agent Laura who lives in Saugus!
“I was born and raised in Saugus and I love it. It offers convince to Route 1 and Boston, but also does not feel like a busy city because we have Breakheart and the woods right on our doorstep too. There is great history in the city too with the Iron Works, the Orange Dino, Kane’s Donuts and even the Little League World Series winners! I have so many choices when going out to eat, great places to exercise and the exciting light shows during the Holiday season. I really could not see myself living anywhere else!”
